STCM HISTORY

The STCM was founded on October 24, 1947 by Charles Laing, Peter Babisch, James Wheeling and L.E. Crawford.  That year the membership consisted of 10-12 individuals.

The STCM first Specialty was held in conjunction with the
Oakland County Kennel Club.

Important to the STCM, beyond its devotion to the breed, education and mentoring of new Scottish Terrier owners, is its work to eradicate diseases and genetic defects which affect Scotties.

The STCM earns money to contribute to dog charities and tries to increase the amount given each year.

In 1988 STCM, was the proud recipient of the STCA Anstamm Achievement Award.

Two-third of our members are fanciers and about one-third breeder/exhibitors.

STCM was an early advocate of breed rescue, vWD testing and originated the Scottish Terrier Information packet now offered by the STCA.

The club Newsletter is the "TARTAN" and it is published every three months.

Some of our Club Projects include Grooming Classes, Scottie Rescue, vWD Clinics and Donations for Research to Scottie Cramp.
